Rail Workshop Fitter Machinist Apprenticeship.

Company Overview 2XM is working with an established international engineering design and manufacturer in the Bankstown area. Our client produces a range of bespoke products for the Rail industry that require experienced tradespeople with a Fitting, Machining and CNC background to produce. The company has continued to grow through the pandemic and is in a strong position to grow further into 2022. 

They have a strong track record of promoting from within including their current Plant & Operations Manager who started on the shop floor with the business. This is a great permanent job opportunity to join their business and grow with them over the coming years. The role is Monday to Friday day shift basis to commence with afternoon shifts available upon training completion.

The Role
As an Apprentice Fitter / Machinist you will undergo extensive training across all sections of their workshop. The client will enrol each applicant onto a TAFE apprenticeship scheme & their company business model is to promote growth & provide career development opportunities within their global organisation. The role requires you to be physically fit as you are dealing with heavy components and the role sees you moving around a lot through the day. 

You must also have a keen eye for detail as each product is manufactured to tight tolerances.
Role Tasks & Duties:
The role includes but not limited to:

• Perform Fitter Machinist Assembly of Rail Track Turnouts & associated Component parts in a controlled workshop environment.  
• Assist tradesman on a daily basis & as directed with the fabrication of products.
• Proactively contribute to problem solving within the factory environment.
• Contribute to continual improvement of processes.
• Clean workshop on a daily basis.
• Assist with stock control under direction of the Auburn team leader.
• Knowledge of manufacturing environment protocols, processes & procedures.
• Ability to receive and act on instructions.
• Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously on day to day tasks.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritise.
• Well-developed verbal & written communication skills.

 
Required Skills, Experience and Competencies:

• Partial completion of mechanical trade or overseas trade highly desirable.
• HSC or high school education level.
• Minimum of 3-5 Years proven trade assistant heavy industry experience.

Additional requirements:

• Passing a pre-employment medical.
• Australian fulltime working rights.
• Forklift License & VOC in Overhead Gantry Crane experience highly desirable.

The business is subject to the public health order requirements which are released of changed from time to time
