About The Role

We are looking for a passionate & experienced Product Developer to join us to develop and refresh a seasonal portfolio of products that are great tasting, great quality and innovative. The role sits within our WFC Food & Exclusives portfolio and requires an experienced candidate with commercial awareness and a passion for your products and ensuring we have the best products in the market for our customers within our cost and quality expectations.

We are looking for candidates with experience in product development, and project management with a good level of sourcing experience locally & internationally.

You will be responsible for developing and refreshing a portfolio of products that delight customers and align with the category strategy. You will work collaboratively with our suppliers and internal stakeholders right across the product life cycle. You will be responsible for developing strategic plans with our category teams and bringing these products to market. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring customers are at the centre of all decisions by utilising all available customer insights and data, including participation in customer focus groups and forums. 
  • Working collaboratively with our supply partners, the Buying Team, Category Marketing, QA & Packaging Design teams to ensure products are developed in line with brand guidelines and launched on time every time
  • Partnering with all relevant stakeholders to build an effective strategy that will serve beyond the immediate future, that is reflective of category role, customer demographics, customer needs, emerging markets and product trends. Prior experience with Mintel and Quantium is an advantage.
  • Collaborating with the Brand Management Team for all projects to understand brand strategy & guidelines, and support and manage the design process to timely execution to contribute to development of the final Packaging (marketing) artwork brief
  • Partnering with suppliers, assessing submissions and driving the sample review process internally.
  • Investing time with Category Manager/ Own Brand Manager /Category Heads in stores, visiting manufacturers, conducting competitor analysis through store visits and interacting with customers to contribute to longer-term NPD planning.

About You 

You are currently working in a Product Development or Sourcing role in a complex & customer-centric environment. 

  • Min 3 years in Product development or experience in a relevant discipline within a complex/matrix environment
  • Strong understanding of product, ingredients, processing and cost makeup of goods. 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and impact on Cost of Goods.
  • Solid organisational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with diverse stakeholder interaction
  • Ability to identify risks, gaps and potential opportunities for sustainable business growth
  • Ability to create seasonal development plans, with a focus on innovative products.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to identify upcoming trends, analyse, interpret and apply, as well as identify potential gaps/ opportunities  in the market 
  • Ability to identify new development formats and ideas, as well as brief new concepts
