An employers Association and registered training organisation dedicated to representing businesses in the automotive industry. It regularly offers advice on matters affecting the industry and assists its members by lobbying governing bodies to ensure a viable industry in NSW. A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Government Relations and Advocacy Manager to join its head office team.
Your new role
- Liaise with Government Departments and Ministerial Offices on legislative and policy matters
- Carry out research and make formal submissions to Government bodies
- Represent the Industry Association on a variety of committees
- Promote the Associations benefits to assigned members
- Advise Area Managers on legislative information about various acts and prescribed forms
- Build relationships with a range of stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes for members
- Present information sessions to members on legislative and policy updates
- Interact with relevant bodies and sit on national industry sector committees
- Assist members in tribunal matters, private mediations hearings and disputes
- Provide reporting to the Executive Board and Governing Council
- Attend Governing Council meetings to provide updates and responses to current issues
- Become a subject matter expert on electrical vehicles (EV) and provide advice to members
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience in Policy formation, advocacy, and lobbying
- Demonstrated skills in research and writing formal submissions to government
- Knowledge of the Automotive industry and its applicable legislation
- Electronic Vehicle (EV) knowledge and expertise highly desirable
- Excellent influencing, relationship building and negotiation skills
- Strong writing skills and exceptional communication skills
- Member services oriented with the ability to work in a diverse membership base
- Creative and lateral thinking, high level of initiative and pro-activity
- Sound time management, planning and organisational skills
- Experience within the Automotive industry highly beneficial
- Postgraduate qualification in Public Policy, Government, Legal or other relevant field
