About Us

ADF Health Services provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia.  As part of this contract, Serco, in partnership with Bupa, provide defence-ready clinical and support staff across 50+ on-base locations nationally, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care. To learn more please visit www.serco.com/ahsc

About the Role

You will be responsible for providing chair-side assistance to the Dentist/Dental Specialist/Hygienist in the delivery of dental services to patients. You will also assist with administrative tasks such as entering/updating patient records as well as other duties as required by the Dentist including promotion of oral health to patients and maintaining optimal hygiene of the surgery.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
  • Certificate III in Dental Assisting or nationally recognised equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years (full-time equivalent) experience within the last 5 years.
  • Recent participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities.
  • Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality care to patients within a dental surgery.

About Cairns Health Centre

Cairns Health Centre is located on HMAS Cairns, on the northern shore of Trinity Inlet and close to the CBD of Cairns. The base is home to 900 Navy and civilian personnel and provides general medical, dental, physiotherapy, psychology, and pharmaceutical services. The standard operating hours of the centre are 0730-1545 Mon-Thurs, and 0730-1300 Friday.

Ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and procedures, you take pride in contributing to the cleanliness and effectiveness of a dental surgery environment and assisting your team wherever possible. You are passionate about providing dental support services and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of the highest standard of care to patients.
