You could forgive up-and-coming tennis player Aleksandar Sasha Markovic for being a little confused.

The 11-year-old, who has a Serbian background, obviously idolises Novak Djokovic.

But being a left-hander he models his game on Rafael Nadal and his backhand is the best part of his game like Roger Federer.

What ever he is doing is working.

The Lurnea resident recently won the under-12s singles at the Picton and Camden US Open junior round robin.

He qualified for the final after winning three of his five games. In the final, he reversed his earlier defeat to the same opponent in the rounds, to claim the title.

He then back up with Hoxton Park resident  Pasquale Lavorato to win the doubles, winning their first eight games across their two matches on the way to winning the title.

The pair are coached by Stewart Whicker at Marconi Tennis and Squash.
