Departing Wests Tigers captain Aaron Woods is set to represent Australia again.

Woods, 26, has been included in the Australian Kangaroos squad for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup (RLWC).

Woods – who will join the Canterbury Bulldogs in 2018 –  was one of 24 players named to represent Australia in the tournament.

However, there was no room in the squad for Woods’ former Tigers team mate James Tedesco.

The squad was dominated by premiers Melbourne Storm, who have six representatives, including captain Cameron Smith.

This year’s RLWC will be held in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Australia will take on England in the tournament opener on October 27 in Melbourne.

The competition will run through until the final on December 2.

Several squads have already been named for the 2017 RLWC, including for France, Italy, Lebanon and Wales.

Tedesco and Wests Tigers pair Josh Aloiai and Nathan Milone have been included in Italy’s train-on squad for the tournament.

The squads for New Zealand, England, Scotland, Samoa, Ireland, Fiji, Tonga and Papua New Guinea will be announced over the coming week.
