Man, 35, arrested over Milperra hit-and-run that killed Natasha Gadd
The driver who allegedly killed Sydney teenager Natasha Gadd in a hit-and-run was on a suspended licence when he hit the promising soccer player, police say.
Police arrested a 35-year-old man on Tuesday night following a three-day manhunt for the suspected driver of the white ute that hit Ms Gadd on Henry Lawson Drive, Milperra, at 4.30am on Sunday.
Investigators attended a factory on the Princes Highway in St Peters just before 8.30pm on Tuesday and located a white Toyota Hilux that they believe was involved in the crash. Read more.
Penalty rate decision didn't consider living standards: union
The living standards of low-paid workers were not taken into account by the Fair Work Commission when it decided to slash penalty rates, the hospitality workers' union has told the Federal Court.
United Voice is one of two unions that have launched last-minute legal bids to overturn the industrial umpire's controversial decision earlier this year to cut penalty rates for workers on Sundays and public holidays.
The decision in March was supported by the Turnbull government but seized on by Bill Shorten and the Labor opposition as a case where the independent commission had made a mistake. Read more.
Metro trains are here
The tracks for Sydney Metro are being laid, and now the trains for the new rail network have arrived in Australia.
The trains were assembled overseas and arrived by boat at Newcastle, before being loaded on to a truck and delivered to Sydney.
After the long trek, the trains are receiving safety checks and being prepared for when Sydney Metro starts operating from Cudgegong Road at Rouse Hill to Chatswood in 2019. Read more.
Woman knocked out in Mount Druitt fight
A woman was knocked unconscious during a fight in Mount Druitt on Sunday night.
Police were called to a home Hythe Street, Mount Druitt about 9.30pm on September 24, following reports of a domestic. Read more.
Dramatic vision emerges of four men arrested over string of daylight armed robberies
Four Sydney men are behind bars accused of staging a string of daylight armed robberies targeting armoured trucks, after heavily-armed police intercepted what they allege was the group's most recent raid.
The men parked a stolen high-powered Audi RS3 on a north Sydney street on Monday afternoon and waited - one packing a loaded revolver - to strike upmarket Minksys Hotel in Cremorne, police say. Read more.

While the state’s best young soccer players compete for silverware this week, the boys from western Sydney are already winners off the pitch.
Metro West is one of nine teams competing at Valentine Sports Park in the Football NSW 15s boys state titles from September 25-29. Read more.
Oakville Preschool charity event raised $3500 for Pink Finss
The Oakville Preschool community has banded together and raised $3500 for Hawkesbury breast cancer support charity, Pink Finss.
A charity event was held at the school last week, and staff, children, families and friends enjoyed a barbecue, jumping castle, car wash, face painting, cake stall, raffles, silent auctions and games, all in the name of raising money for the charity. Read more.
Wests Tigers ditch Campbelltown game
The Wests Tigers decision to only play three home games at Campbelltown Sports Stadium next year has been labelled “disappointing” by Campbelltown mayor George Brticevic.
Like previous seasons the club will play four matches at ANZ Stadium however, only three games each will be played at the joint venture’s traditional home grounds, Campbelltown Sport Stadium and Leichhardt Oval.
Cr Brticevic said the decision would be the detriment of the community. Read more.
Dragons to explore playing one home game overseas in 2018
St George Illawarra are exploring the possibility of playing one home game overseas next season.
The club have abandoned ANZ Stadium as a home ground after the Dragons announced they had conducted a review of their ‘right game, right venue’ strategy.
The club will play five home games each at Jubilee Oval, Kogarah and WIN Stadium, Wollongong in 2018, as well as host the traditional ANZAC Day clash with the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium, Moore Park.
That leaves a 12th regular season home match, with the club looking into playing it in a “different market” in Australia or potentially overseas. Read more.
Dally Messenger's family takes aim at NRL for Dally Ms snub
The family of the great Dally Messenger has accused the NRL of disrespecting the rugby league pioneer by rejecting repeated requests to present the Dally M player of the year award.
Dally Messenger III – Messenger's grandson – says he has written to NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg for the past two years asking to be involved in rugby league's night of nights, only to be turned down each time. Read more.
Sydney Kings to bring physical game against NBA's Utah Jazz
Australian NBA championship winner Matthew Dellavedova caused widespread debate in the US two years ago about his physical playing style, and Sydney Kings coach Andrew Gaze has warned the Utah Jazz to expect a similar approach from his side next week.
Gaze's Kings fly to Salt Lake City on Thursday to prepare for their clash with last season's western conference semi-finalists on October 3 (AEDT), marking the first time an NBL side has taken on an NBA franchise in an official pre-season match. Read more.
England cricket star Ben Stokes arrested, dropped from ODI
England's one day international vice-captain Ben Stokes has been dropped after being arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm.
The England and Wales Cricket Board said the allrounder was arrested after an incident in Bristol on Monday, just hours after he hit 73 runs to help England beat the West Indies.
He was detained at about 2.30am but released without charge in the evening. Read more.
