Police have charged a man following a serious crash at Liverpool yesterday

UPDATE​: About 1.50pm (Monday July 17), an 89-year-old woman was attempting to cross Elizabeth Drive, near Flowerdale Road, when she was allegedly struck by a car.

The woman sustained head injuries and fractures to her leg and ankle.

She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

The 61-year-old driver of the car was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

A crime scene was established at the crash site and officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene and commenced their inquiries.

Once released from hospital the driver was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was interviewed and later charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He was given conditional bail and will appear in Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday August  9.
