Star strikers Panny Nikas and Chris Payne demonstrated the potent one-two punch netting goals for Sydney United 58 in their 2-1 against Sydney FC on Sunday to move the Reds back into the top five.
Nikas, who recently called off his move with Thai First Division club Police Tero FC, was a constant menace for the Sky Blues who had three players backing up from the mid-week friendly against Arsenal.
Goals either side of the break were enough to give Mark Rudan’s their ninth win of the year to move to 30 points with four rounds remaining.
“They played well, we adjusted and displayed a good attitude to claim the three points,” Nikas said.
Meanwhile, Bonnyrigg continued their late season surge maintaining their fourth straight clean sheet in their 2-0 win against Sutherland on Saturday.
“We played like a team tonight, like the old Bonnyrigg,” coach Brian Brown said.
