One of Chipping Norton's fittest put her skills to the test on the toughest obstacle course that’s landed in Australia.
Laura Edwards will battle it out on our screens this Sunday for the title of Australia’s Ninja Warrior.
In a balancing act she spent countless hours training all over Sydney for the challenge, while working full-time as an exercise physiologist.
Leading to the count down she trained at local parks by climbing trees and attempted an intense course in Bringelly.
The determined 28-year-old told The Champion she had more on the line than just her pride.
“It affected my schedule but it was worth the adjustments. I’m just grateful for the experience and would definitely try again if they did another season,” she said.
A female is yet to be crowned Ninja Warrior in any country.
“It's hard for women because we're biologically different. Overall, men are built to be stronger and certainly in the upper body region. I want to be the best out of both genders. I want to represent women in a way hat shows our strength and capabilities.”
Channel 9’s television show Ninja Warrior aired last week but it has already gathered substantial interest from the public and is a huge topic on social media.
The iconic obstacle course that began in Japan has reached 20 countries so far, but only seven people worldwide have managed to conquer it.
Laura, like other Australian athletes have been watching, waiting and training for the day that Ninja Warrior made it to our shores.
Thousands of Australians applied but only the absolute were given the chance.
“I've been into obstacle courses for quite a long time and I've trained others too. So I've always said to people my ideal course would be a Ninja Warrior course because there is no running.
“I used to watch the US series and there were a few good friends of mine who found out there were applications in June last year and so I applied. It was quite a lengthy process and they chose contestants based on personality and physicality.”
It will be revealed during Sunday’s episode if Laura dominates the obstacle course and makes it to the semi-final round.
