A Liverpool mum has had a Mother’s Day to remember after winning $2.625 million in Saturday’s $21 Million Superdraw.
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said the win may not have happened at all if an inpatient shopper had succeeded in pushing in front of her when she was buying her winning entry.
“The shop was busy and there was an inpatient lady who was trying to push in front of me! What if she had picked up my ticket!” she told a a NSW Lotteries official.
Her entry was one of eight division one winning entries nationally
She purchased her winning 12-game QuickPick entry from Liverpool Newsagency, Shop 249, Westfield Shoppingtown, Macquarie Street, Liverpool.
The newsagency last sold a division one winning ticket in June 2016.
As expected, the winner’s planned Mother’s Day activities were thrown out the window.
“I was very shocked when I checked my ticket yesterday. I said to the newsagent ‘Are you sure? This is too much! I don’t know if I can go on’,” she said.
“I just couldn’t believe it. It still hasn’t sunk in.
“When I told my husband he started to cry. He was crying. We came home and we hugged.
“Money-wise we’ve been under a bit of pressure lately, so this will go a long way. We don’t know what we’ll do with the money, but it’s a relief to know it’s there.
“We’ll just let it all sink in first.”
The six winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3737 on Saturday 13 May 2017 were 21, 1, 40, 30, 16 and 35. The supplementary numbers were 7 and 2.
