Attention dance and ballet fans.
Here’s a chance to escape the cold Sydney weather and fly to Brisbane armed with great seats to several world class ballet performances.
Britain’s premier ballet company, The Royal Ballet will perform exclusively in Brisbane for the 2017 QPAC International Series.
It’s the first time this show will be performed in Australia.
Queensland minister for tourism and major events Kate Jones said the QPAC International Series had become a star performer on Queensland’s major events calendar.
“Since 2009 the QPAC International Series has put the spotlight on Brisbane as a cultural tourism destination bringing exclusive productions like the Paris Opera Ballet, the Bolshoi Ballet and most recently France’s Ballet Preljocaj with Snow White to Queensland,” Ms Jones said.
“On average a third of the audience come from interstate.”
The Royal Ballet will perform the Australian premieres of two works, The Winter’s Tale and Woolf Works from June 29 to July 9.
The Winter’s Tale is the first full length adaptation of a Shakespeare play by the company since Kenneth MacMillan’s 1965 production of Romeo and Juliet.
Wayne McGregor’s full-length ballet, Woolf Works secured the 2016 Olivier Award for best new dance production.
It is inspired by three of Virginia Woolf’s novels, Mrs Dalloway, Orlando and The Waves, as well as her autobiographical books.
Tickets are now sale from qpac.com.au or by calling 136 246.
