Gurinder Sandhu rediscovered some form from yesteryear taking 6-92 in Fairfield Liverpool’s tight loss to Penrith at the weekend.
The Sydney Thunder quick was the standout with the ball as the Lions toiled hard to keep the home team to 9-284 on Saturday.
He was supported by Param Uppal (2-60) who sent down 30 overs (including 10 maidens) in the oppressive heat.
Sandhu took the first four wickets to fall with Ryan Hackney (62) top scoring for Penrith.
The Lions were on track in the run chase on Sunday and at one stage were 5-252. However Brenton Loudon’s four wickets swung the game in the home team’s favour as the Lions were bowled out for 279.
Matthew Harivel (67) and Luke Ohrynowsky (62) top scored for the visitors who have only one win for the NSW Premier Cricket season.
The Saturday the Lions start a two-day fixture against Northern Districts at Mark Taylor Oval.
