A FURRY little creature has taken the sporting world by storm.
Meet Zabivaka, the cute wolf who has been named the official mascot for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Zabivaka means “the one who scores” in Russian, an apt name for the world’s biggest football tournament.
Zabivaka was chosen following a voting competition on social media, FIFA website and a TV show.
The wolf received 53 per cent of votes to win ahead of a tiger (27 per cent) and cat (20 per cent).
According to the FIFA.com Twitter account, more than 100,000 votes were received for the mascot competition.
The 21st FIFA World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15 at 12 different venues across the country.
