A private press conference was held for the local media, attended by Ms Gillard, health minister Tanya Plibersek and Fowler MP, Chris Hayes.
Ms Gillard responded to questions relating to the reclassified radioactive waste scheduled to be dumped at the Kemps Creek waste facility in the next 12 months; as well as the community's health concerns relating to the proposed federal intermodal.
