A teenage girl has died and another teenager has been injured when a car crashed and rolled in Sydney's west overnight, police say.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Belloc Close and Vidal Street in Wetherill Park just before 8pm on Monday.
Residents on the suburban street phoned triple zero to report hearing a series of loud bangs, before finding the maroon Toyota Corolla resting on its roof on the street.
The 17-year-old girl, who police believe was driving the vehicle, was trapped inside the wreckage of the crumpled Toyota Corolla, while two other passengers - another 17-year-old girl, and a 14-year-old boy - were able to get out of the wreckage.
NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived within minutes but were not able to save the girl, who died at the scene. She is believed to have suffered major head injuries.
The male was taken to hospital with minor injuries, while the female passenger was not injured in the crash, police said. They have both spoken to police.
A NSW Police spokesman said the Toyota may have been travelling with another vehicle in the moments before the crash. Initial police investigations suggested the cars were not street racing at the time, the police spokesman said.
Police set up a crime scene on Monday night, and are appealing for anyone who saw the maroon vehicle in the lead-up to the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
