Emergency services are attempting to remove a truck which is stuck in a culvert on Fifteenth Avenue in Austral.
The truck became wedged on the side of the road after it’s driver misjudged a steep drop in the ground which was hidden by grass.
The truck’s driver Peter Shields, told the Champion, there were no white guide posts on the side of the road.
The guide posts are generally placed on the side of roads by councils to outline the edges of the roadway.
The posts indicate the lateral limits of the safe trafficable way and the alignment of the road ahead.
Mr Shield said it was still going to take another 30 minutes or more to get the truck removed and towed away.
“There were no white posts or maybe they had been knocked over,” he said.
“I missed the driveway so I was just backing up a little bit and I just I didn’t see the culvert in the long grass.
“There were posts on the other side of the road but not this side.”
The road will be intermittently closed this morning until the truck is removed from the ridge and towed.
