Two police officers have been hospitalised following an assault in Sydney's inner-west, NSW Police says.
Just before 4pm on Saturday, police were called to Strathfield railway station following reports of anti-social behaviour.
While speaking to a group of people at the location, an officer was allegedly punched to the head, the police said in a statement.
The alleged offender ran from the location and was pursued on foot by other officers.
The 26-year-old was arrested a short distance away and taken to Burwood Police Station where he was assisting police with their inquiries.
Another officer suffered injury to his neck while pursuing the man.
The injured officers, both male, were treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics before being taken Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
One officer has since been released, and the other office was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
