Eagles rise to premiership glory

BONNYRIGG White Eagles are the 2012 NSW Premier League premiers.

With one round before the finals, the Eagles are flying high on 50 points, 13 clear of Sydney Olympic in the Football NSW competition.

In reality, the Eagles have had the premiership trophy under lock and key for several weeks. They were just waiting for it to be presented to them by the Football NSW management,

In round 21, the Eagles defeated Sydney Olympic 3-0 at Bonnyrigg Sports Centre, on Saturday night. They were presented with the premiers trophy after the game.

"I am very, very happy with what these boys have achieved this season, the boys have all been tremendous." coach Brian Brown said.

"Not many people would have given us a chance at the start of the season with so many players leaving the club, though the boys have all worked so hard and I am proud of every single player.

"We knew this match would be tough, Sydney Olympic is a top side and even though we clinched the premiership last weekend, we really wanted to give our supporters a win for all their efforts this season too.

"It is very important we maintain intensity as we go into the finals series with some good momentum."

The Eagles play Blacktown City FC at Seven Hills at 3pm on Sunday.
