THE Liverpool Police Football Charity Football Shield is back bigger and better.

After the success of last year's inaugural shield, the second instalment will be at Ernie Smith Reserve at Moorebank on Saturday, September 13.

Teams from Liverpool, Fairfield, Cabramatta and Macarthur police will field teams in the round-robin tournament.

The SES and Liverpool council will also field teams.

There will be a range of activities for children and families, including stalls and facepainting.

The fund-raising event will raise money for the Violet Foundation which supports research into meningococcal disease.

Southern Districts Soccer Football Association patron Alf Vella encouraged the community to get behind the event. "It'll be a great day with plenty of activities and all the money goes to a good cause," he said. "We've had plenty of support from the police, council, the SES and Southern Districts and it promises to be a big day."

The games start at 9am.
