A suspended police officer is one of three men charged over a foiled robbery at Cabramatta in Sydney's west on Monday.
Police confirmed the men, one of whom was suspended Senior Constable Ashur Oshana, were the target of an operation involving the force's Professional Standards Command and the South West Metropolitan Region.
They were charged on Monday night with armed robbery in company and three counts of stealing and refused bail to appear in Liverpool Local Court on Tuesday.
Senior Constable Oshana is attached to the South West Metropolitan Region force.
Dramatic scenes unfolded on John Street on Monday morning, when undercover detectives and specialist police arrested the trio just after 10.30am.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said no firearms were involved. A man and a woman were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
A source confirmed the victim had been robbed outside a money transfer business situated between branches of the ANZ and NAB banks.
Police said they knew the offenders had planned some sort of robbery at the location.
Hundreds of shoppers stopped to watch as plain clothes detectives and heavily armed specialist police handcuffed a man, dressed in a fluorescent orange tradies shirt, on the middle of the road.
As police held him down, an ear piece and a wig could be seen strewn on the ground nearby.

A few bystanders were accidentally hit with pepper-spray by police and treated by paramedics.
One witness at the scene described hearing a woman "screaming".
"One man... he was on the ground and another guy was holding on tight and wouldn't let him go and then another guy came over to get him off and then I came to help," the witness told Channel Nine.
