THIS week, children and staff at Kids Korner, West Hoxton, are after supplies for Food Bank Australia.

The childcare centre asks locals to donate non-perishable foods, toiletries and cleaning products for their collection, which will run until this Friday.

Centre supervisor Pruedance "Prue" Lupton said as many as one in seven children went to school without breakfast.

"Food Bank Australia assists in providing children with breakfast as well as feeding the homeless, assisting families who are struggling and in need of nutritional meals and basic living items.

"We researched the food bank, reached out to them and asked how we could help."

"We wanted to teach them [children] that there are people out there who are in need."

Kids Korner West Hoxton is located at 265A Fifteenth Avenue, Austral.

Items can be dropped off at the centre between 7am and 6pm.
