Liverpool karate champ wins nationals

YOSEIKAN Karate Liverpool member Tara Boyd is once again an Australian karate champion.

Tara, 10, who was national champion in 2011 and 2012 and was second at last year's nationals, won two gold medals and a bronze at the AKF national championships in Perth recently.

She will now represent Australia at the Oceania Karate Championships in Fiji.

Boyd was one of seven athletes from Yoseikan Karate to represent NSW at the nationals.

Silvano Banic won a bronze Medal, Angela Oei took home a silver Medal, Cara Macalister won four bronze medals and Darielle Corpuz a silver medal. Fional Oei and Alen Subotic also competed and were unlucky not to place.

Sensei Abdul Zahra said: "We are very proud of our athletes. They have trained very hard for this competition and for them to come out with medals is a bonus. The competition was massive and had the best athletes from Australia in it."
