A group of pupils at Liverpool Public School celebrated Schools Tree Day on Friday, by planting native trees on the schools grounds.

The trees were donated by Liverpool Council as part of its National Tree Day events, most of which were held on Sunday.

Liverpool council donated 50 trees to 33 local schools.

Each year more than 200,000 people take part in events at 3000 community, business and council-organised sites, according to Planet Ark.
