LANSVALE East Public School has introduced a special club that provides a healthy breakfast for pupils who would otherwise come to school hungry.

Breakfast Club operates every Tuesday and Wednesday from 8.30am to 8.55am.

Assistant principal Helen Simmons said the club gave pupils the opportunity to kick-start their day.

"Many nutritionists and experts believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and that a nutritious breakfast aids children's physical, mental and emotional development," Ms Simmons said.

"The club is about more than providing a healthy start to the day. It is available to all our students, parents, carers and staff to enjoy a nutritional breakfast, fuelling their minds for learning and providing the energy they need to get through the day."

The club relies on local community members and businesses donating breakfast supplies.

"We would like to graciously extend an invitation for local support, in an attempt to provide our students with the opportunity to receive a sufficient meal in the morning," Ms Simmons said.
