IKEA workers to fore
Local volunteers recently worked to furnish four rooms in Liverpool Hospital's cancer therapy centre and the women's and children's health centre.
The team of 18 distribution centre workers from Moorebank IKEA took two days to put together the furniture in the hospital wards, which was also donated by the store.
The workers volunteered their time for the project, which was part of the IKEA People and Planet Positive sustainable strategy.
Liverpool Hospital general manager Robynne Cooke thanked IKEA for the support.
"The rooms look fantastic and the feedback we've received from staff and patients has been really positive," she said.
Liverpool residents can see how their gardens measure up to their neighbours, in a competition being held by the council.
Entries for the competition, which is open to residents with gardens in the Liverpool Council area, close at 5pm on August 1 and judging will take place in mid-September.
There is a range of categories and residents of townhouses, rural properties and residential properties can all compete.
There is also a category for best educational facility garden and best commercial/ industrial complex garden.
