INQUIRIES are continuing after a man was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash at Greendale on Friday night.
A Toyota Corolla was travelling on Greendale Road at about 11.15pm when it failed to negotiate a right-hand bend, left the road and hit a power pole.
Police said the 63-year-old male driver, who was the only person in the car, was partially ejected from the vehicle.
He was assessed on site by paramedics before being taken by helicopter to Liverpool Hospital with serious facial and internal injuries.
Inspector Kernin Lambert, Fire and Rescue NSW duty commander for south-west Sydney, said firefighters used airbags to slowly lift the vehicle off the trapped driver.
"Specialist equipment was used to remove sections of the roof and side, enabling rescuers to free the driver," Inspector Lambert said.
