OWNERS of a Miller after-school childcare centre have received two community service awards from Fowler MP Chris Hayes.
As part of Australian Child Care Week, Mr Hayes presented SLOOSH Kids Care's Frank Costa and Ruth Brissett-Costa with a National Australian Community Service Award.
The centre's secretary, Sharyn Henry, also received a National Australian Volunteer Award.
Mr Hayes said he was proud to support the centre.
"I have worked with and seen the commitment of Ruth and her team," he said.
"I commend the staff and volunteers on the great work they do day in and day out to help our parents and teach our children.
"During Child Care Week, it is important that we reflect on the important role that all our childcare workers play in our local community."
Mrs Brissett-Costa said she and her husband were humbled to be recognised in this way.
"The families at our centre know that we are passionate about providing a nurturing and inspiring environment in which our children can play, learn and explore," Mrs Brissett-Costa said.
"Our team plays an incredibly important role in the local community, and Australian Child Care Week provides a great opportunity for us to celebrate that role by putting our children's education and care up in lights."
SLOOSH Kids Care provides before and after-school care for children between four and 16 years of age.
It offers homework, music, nutrition, health and fitness programs, parent education workshops, counselling and speech therapy sessions.
