BY day Scottie Paulo is a talented singer who was recently featured on Channel 9's The Voice.

By night the Canley Vale resident is better known by his alter ego, The Samoan Warrior, a wrestler for PWA Australia.

Yes that's right: part-time singer, part-time wrestler, full-time talent.

The 27-year-old may have missed out on getting on Team Joel or Team Kylie at The Voice, but he has his own team to fall back on: the Rainbro Warriors.

The Samoan Warrior is one half of the PWA Tag Team champions.

"Singing has been a huge passion all my life but so has wrestling. I needed a change from playing rugby union four years ago and I decided to give wrestling a go and I've loved it ever since," said Paulo, who grew up watching wrestling and idolising American wrestler Shawn Michaels.

"The training is very intense and there's lots of cardio work but it was a smooth transition because I was very athletic and I love physical contact."

When Paulo is not implementing his signature Samoan Sunrise in the wrestling ring he's often found singing at his Lansvale church, Sydney House of Praise.

It was the birth of his passion for singing which led him to audition for The Voice.

Five auditions later and Paulo was on stage singing Bruno Mars' Treasure.

"I didn't take it seriously at first. I just wanted to give it a go and see what happened and then after I got through the third audition I started taking it a little more seriously.

"It was a great experience.

"I wouldn't mind doing it next year and giving it one more try. I learnt a lot and, hopefully, that'll prepare me well for next time. And the similarities between singing and wrestling?

"There are similarities — the ring is like the stage and it's where I perform and entertain the crowd.

"I always try to give people a good show, whether I'm singing or wrestling."

Paulo was in action during the weekend with the PWA event at the Casula Powerhouse.

The next event is in August.
