BONNYRIGG White Eagles hadn't conceded a goal in 398 minutes heading into Saturday's local derby. It took Sydney United 58 FC less than a minute to break that streak.
But despite Mirjan Pavlovic's early goal, the White Eagles bounced back to defeat the Reds 2-1 for their fifth consecutive win.
It moves them into second place on the Football NSW Men's Elite 1 ladder and sets up a mouth watering top of the table clash with the league leaders Blacktown Spartans on Saturday night.
Adrian Ucchino and Robbie Younis scored goals either side of the break to secure a win for the home team.
But it was a goalkeeper Matthew Nash who was once again the hero for Brian Brown's team saving a shot from point-blank range.
"I think it was a great performance in difficult circumstances," Brown said.
"The pitch was a bit bumpy, but other than the first five minutes, we dominated."
