YOSEIKAN-RYU Karate Liverpool has a strong contingent in the 2014 Tournament of Champions Karate competition at the Whitlam Leisure Centre, on Sunday, June 29.

The competition is the final big event on the NSW karate calendar before the national titles in August.

"This competition should attract all the beginners as well as the elite as it is the last competition before the nationals in August in Perth," coach Abdul Zahra said.

"Yoseikan has a lot of beginners, so this will be their first competition but it will be really exciting for them and the club.

"All our coaches at the club do an amazing job to get these guys ready for action time so we will wait and see how they perform on the day.

"For us, win or lose, it doesn't matter as long as they try their best and have some fun.

"What is more exciting for the kids is that the prizes for this comp are very large karate cup trophies which are almost taller than some of the kids."

Yoseikan-Ryu runs karate classes at the Whitlam Leisure Centre.
