LOCAL fans of Andre Rieu will get their chance to see the popular performer on the big screen next month, when Event Cinemas Liverpool hosts two screenings of his 10th Anniversary 2014 Maastricht Concert.
The event, happening at 3pm on July 26 and 27, is presented via satellite and is part of a worldwide series of screenings.
Hosted by British television presenter Charlotte Hawkins, the cinema exclusive has become a hallmark of Rieu’s much-loved concert series.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of his traditional summer evening concerts, staged in a city square in The Netherlands — the Vrithof in Maastricht — the maestro’s fans will be treated to one of the most extraordinary concerts of the year.
The man dubbed the ‘‘King of Waltz’’ will work his magic to present an unforgettable event filled with humour, music and emotion, for fans and music lovers of every age.
The dramatic and alluring medieval square will be transformed into a romantic open-air concert venue, featuring Rieu and his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra, with famous guest artists, soloists and a fireworks spectacular.
‘‘My 10th anniversary home-town concert is very dear to my heart and I wish everyone could be here to help us celebrate,’’ Rieu said.
‘‘However, if you can’t join us in Maastricht, I hope I can touch your heart by bringing this special evening to you, on the big screen in your local cinema.’’
Tickets at Events Liverpool are $40.
