A Liverpool man has been charged after allegedly punching and kicking a puppy a number of times in Liverpool earlier this week.
The man was charged after police were called to a property on Macquarie Street following the incident at about 11pm on Tuesday, May 6.
Officers attended the scene and were told a 23-year-old man allegedly attacked a Pitbull-type puppy.
The man was arrested at the scene and taken to Liverpool police station, where he was charged with committing an act of cruelty upon an animal.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on June 3.
The puppy sustained injuries to its nose and eyes and was taken to an animal hospital for treatment.
It is now in the care of the RSPCA.
