FIVE top young martial arts competitors from Yoseikan-Ryu Karate Club, Liverpool, have been selected in the NSW karate team to compete at the national titles in August in Perth.
The club members competed at the recent NSW titles at the Whitlam Leisure Centre.
All five won medals gaining selection in the NSW team.
Cara Macalister, 13, won two gold, Tara Boyd, 10, won two gold, Alen Subotic, 13, won one gold, Darielle Corpuz, 15, won one gold, and Silvano Banic, 13, won silver and bronze medals.
"This was a very hard competition with 150 competitors all vying for the state team so for all the Yoseikan athletes to make it is a great achievement," club coach Abdul Zahra said.
"Every single one of these guys trained hard and they deserve selection."
Zahra said the next event for the club's competitors is the Australian Open Karate championships at the Whitlam Centre from April 11 to April 13.
"This event attracts 400 athletes including some teams from overseas," Zahra said.
