Man arrested for drug possession after being stopped for a ticket check at Liverpool station

Transport officers have found a commuter with illegal drugs after stopping him for not having a valid rail ticket in Liverpool train station.

Officers stopped the 27-year-old man at the station to check if he had a valid rail pass about 3.30pm yesterday, Wednesday, March 19.

Police allege a drug detection dog made a positive indication on the man’s backpack.

They said they searched the bag and found a bag of methylamphetamine, known as "ice" and a bag of precursor drugs.

Officers also found a pipe, a set of scales and several empty drug satchels.

He was charged with supplying prohibited drugs, possessing prohibited drugs and the possession of drug equipment.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Liverpool Local Court on Tuesday, April 15.
