Shoppers laud Chippng Norton made Aussie product

CHIPPING Norton's Bathox Australia was one of the big winners at the annual 2014 Product of the Year Awards.

The program, in which consumers determine the winning products, highlights the best new items in a range of categories.

Bathox Australia won for its new BX Earth body and hand wash range.

The products are made from Australian ingredients.

Bathox Australia owners Katheline Wray and Gary Shewan, who also live in the Liverpool area, said they were passionate about creating and making their products in Australia.

"A lot of our consumers are young and smart and are health conscious about what products they are using on their body," Mrs Wray said.

"They want to buy something that is going to work. It's healthy, it's an Australian product and it's affordable.

"Our materials are sourced in Australia from plant derived ingredients and natural essential oils."

Bathox Australia has been producing all of its products from a warehouse in Chipping Norton for the past 18 years.

The company was started by Katheline's father, Godfrey Wray, in the 1960s.

He worked as an industrial chemist and invented many products including artificial sweeteners, hand and body washes, as well as dog shampoos and conditioners.

Mrs Wray has worked alongside her father for many years and is the company's chief executive officer. She said she intended to keep the family business.

She said she would continue to make products at the Chipping Norton factory, refusing to outsource the business.

"We are proud to be Australian," Mrs Wray said. "We employ Australians and want to keep our products made in Australia. It's important to us.

"If you take away all the jobs there will be no work for our children."
