Police have detained two P-plate drivers and suspended their licences after they were detected street racing at Casula in the early hours of Sunday morning.
About 12.05am Liverpool Highway Patrol police were conducting stationary speed enforcement duties on the Hume Highway.
Officers detected two vehicles travelling in a north easterly direction well in excess of the sign posted 70km/h limit.
Officers followed both vehicles and at the intersection of the Hume Highway and Kurrajong Road it will be alleged their speed was in excess of 160km/h.
Both drivers, a 17-year-old youth and 18-year-old man who were P1 provisional drivers, were detained by police when they stopped at traffic lights.
They were issued with field court attendance notices to appear at Liverpool Local Court on March 12 for street racing and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.
Both drivers also had had their licences suspended.
