President backs runways

AN AIRPORT at Badgerys Creek is the way of the future, Liverpool Chamber of Commerce president Harry Hunt says.

Mr Hunt, who owns Comfort Inn Hunts Hotel in Casula, said an airport in Sydney's south west would provide a "natural progression of growth" for residents and businesses.

"It [the airport] would not only create jobs for locals but also jobs for people from all over Australia and jobs for our children and grandchildren too," he said.

"Immediate things that are going to happen is the vast amount of employment that is going to be generated.

"Just imagine all the industries and companies that are going to set up their headquarters and offices around the airport."

Mr Hunt said he believed the airport would not only be a positive thing for Liverpool but also for the rest of the country.

"The vastness of it is beyond what we could really imagine," he said

"It's going to bring people that live in rural areas so much closer to the city because of the infrastructure and roads.

"Look at the growth of the world in business and technology in the last 25 years.

"This is going to be mind boggling."
