Swashbuckling action for all

SWORDPLAY is celebrating 10 years of swashbuckling sword and weapon action.

Principal weapons instructor Karin Kennedy said the entire team at Swordplay had enjoyed the past decade.

‘‘We feel very excited to be a part of the Campbelltown culture and in more recent years the Glendenning area,’’ she said.

‘‘Swordplay has been actively supporting fund-raisers, performing live for blockbuster film premieres, and teaching students fight choreography for theatre productions.

‘‘We also regularly hold community workshops.’’

Ms Kennedy said they provided weekly classes in two locations: Campbelltown and Glendenning.

‘‘We continuously expand the sword skills of our combatants,’’ she said.

‘‘Training includes broadsword, shield, quarterstaff, rapier, dagger and unarmed.’’

The Brigadoon held at Bundanoon is one of the school’s annual events.

‘‘Swordplay introduced archers for the first time into the mass battleground,’’ Ms Kennedy said.

‘‘The new routine proved to be a very exciting element for us and for the audience.’’

Swordplay also participates at the Camden Agricultural Show, Winterfest and the Blacktown Show.

‘‘Of course, throughout the day you will find us having fun with soft swords as we engage with the public,’’ Ms Kennedy said
