PERFORMING a combination of R&B, gospel and reggae music, local band 501 promises to have crowds up and dancing at Liverpool Council's Australia Day festivities on Sunday.
Band leader and base player Daniel Filoa, of Hinchinbrook, said the seven-piece band came together when several members met while studying at the Australian Institute of Music.
Their name comes from the room number of the rehearsal room at the institute where they first rehearsed together.
Mr Filoa said the band members were looking forward to their Australia Day performance, which will start at 7.15pm.
"We'll be playing a mix of styles from R&B to top 40 hits, to reggae, but it will be a whole range of stuff," Mr Filoa said.
"There will be something for everyone and it will be a really energetic and fun show.
"It will be the first Australia Day performance for us.
"We'll create a real party atmosphere and have everyone up and dancing."
He said they often performed around Parramatta but they had recently been the back-up band for reggae artists touring New Zealand, Hawaii, USA and Fiji.
