Be game and join battle

BATTLES galore will be waged when rival armies invade the Games Workshop these school holidays.

The Liverpool store on George Street specialises in Warhammer, a fantasy inspired tabletop game which uses miniature figurines.

It involves building, collecting and painting models of figurines which then form an army of troops.

There's a range of theme-based models to choose from including; medieval, knights and dragons, elves and wizards and military figurines.

There's also different types of games to play; The Hobbit Strategy Battle Game, (inspired by Lord of the Rings books and films) Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy Battles.

Manger Deke Johnstone said the hobby was suitable for children older than 10 and adults.

"Some people enjoy building their models and playing the games, while others enjoy painting and collecting and don't play the games," he said.

"People take pride in their finished work.

"We teach the players how to build models and regularly hold workshops."

Mr Johnstone said there would be a range of daily workshops held during the holidays.

"Instead of sitting in front of a computer screen and having sore eyes, this hobby is real social," he said.

"People who come will learn how to paint each model and play a game."

Games Workshop Liverpool is opened Tuesday-Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sunday 11am to 5pm.
