LEENA Khamis says she is thrilled to be back in the Sydney FC W-League team colours — and a place beckons for her in Japan at next month's International Women's Club Championship.
Khamis, 27, of West Hoxton, recently signed a new contract with the club.
She is back from a year sidelined because of a knee reconstruction.
The former Matildas player is no stranger to the international scene: she has played 19 times for her country, including at the 2011 World Cup in Germany, where Australia reached the quarter-finals.
Khamis said the knee was fine and had stood-up to tough pre-season training.
"The knee is good and I am looking forward to the trip to Japan," Khamis said.
"And I can't wait until the start of the W-League season."
Khamis said playing against top teams would be a challenge — and one she would relish.
