DUSAN Lovric knows what it means to overcome adversity. He puts it down to will power.
Mr Lovric was badly burnt in an accident at a fireworks factory in June, 2003.
He lost nine fingers and suffered third-degree burns to almost 80 per cent of his body when a machine he was working on exploded.
"My body was completely in flames," Mr Lovric said.
"I spent two months in an induced coma and parts of my body were burnt right down to the bone."
After countless operations and skin grafts, Mr Lovric is limited in his mobility.
Despite this, he is a keen member of Fitness Forum Health Club, a gym in Green Valley.
Mr Lovric usually attends the health club weekly to strengthen his muscles and joints.
"I lost my freedom but I always try to put 120 per cent into what I do," he said.
"I was very healthy and fit [before the incident]."
Fitness Forum Health Club manager George Barkho was the winner of the Liverpool Champion 2013 football tipping competition.
He recently donated the winner's prize — a signed Parramatta Eels jersey — to Mr Lovric.
Mr Barkho said it was in return for Mr Lovric inspiring so many others.
"Dusan is someone who put things back into perspective," he said.
"He still keeps healthy and fit, despite his disability.
"We encourage him to do his best and he encourages us to do the same."
