BAREFOOT waterskiing is Liverpool Council's sport of the month for October.
NSW Barefoot Waterski Club is on the banks of the Georges River at Helles Park, Moorebank.
It has hosted many state and national titles over the years and holds club events on weekends.
The Georges River at Moorebank has high banks that prevent wind chop on the water. Reeds on the banks stop roll-back from boat wash.
The course is the perfect length for competing in a 15-second pass in both the trick and slalom events. The club has four world championship representatives.
Liverpool mayor Ned Mannoun said water skiing is one of many sporting activities for locals on the Georges River.
"We want the people of Liverpool to rediscover their beautiful river and enjoy the recreational and environmental opportunities," Mr Mannoun said.
"Water skiing is an excellent way to discover one of our city's best-kept secrets."
The NSW Barefoot Waterski Club regularly holds Come and Try days.
On Saturday, November 16, and Sunday, November 17 the best skiers from around Australia will compete at Helles Park for final Australian selection in next year's World titles at Max Kirwan Ski Lakes in the Riverina district.
