MORE supermarket competition in the Liverpool CBD has arrived.
Aldi at the Liverpool Plaza opens its doors today.
Liverpool Plaza manager Robert Smith said customers would be the winners with more competition.
"Aldi was voted supermarket of the year for the past two years running and we're very pleased to be able to bring this extra shopping opportunity to the 4.25 million visitors to Liverpool Plaza each year," Mr Smith said.
"Aldi will help Liverpool Plaza continue to improve its modern-day shopping experience in line with expectations.
"This new store is an important win for Liverpool, as it has brought jobs and better competition for shoppers."
The new store is around 1500 square metres and stocks more than 1300 products.
An Aldi spokesman said the Liverpool store would "provide the community with the opportunity to experience Aldi's shopping innovations and high quality exclusive brands at hard-to-beat prices."
"Our customers can expect nothing but top quality products at great prices," he said.
"We are the only major grocery retailer in Australia to list all products and prices online so our customers know the exact value they are getting when they shop at Aldi."
