GREEN Valley's Fitness Forum club manager George Barkho is the first to admit that luck had a hand in him taking out this year's Liverpool City Champion Top Tipper National Rugby League competition.
Mr Barkho, who also is a fan of the sport, received a signed and framed Parramatta Eels jersey and a cash prize of $1000 from Event Cinemas Liverpool.
Despite deserving the accolades, Mr Barkho plans to share the wealth.
"I want to give the jersey to one of our members who is a hardcore fan of the Parramatta Eels, and he's a burns victim," he said.
"And I think I might take out my staff for a dinner or a night out to acknowledge their hard work. They deserve something from that."
Mr Barkho said the secret to his successful tipping was a combination of knowledge and luck.
"I took a gamble and picked teams that I wouldn't normally pick," he said.
"The thing to remember is don't back a losing team and just go with your instincts."
Mr Barkho said he took part in the competition to support local athletes and club members.
"We try to sponsor local athletes to inspire our fitness members," he said. "Matthew Keating from Parramatta Eels and Kris Keating from Bulldogs train at our gym."
