MARCONI Stallions were crowned the Women's Premier League Champions after a convincing 5-1 victory over the Illawarra Stingrays at Blacktown Football Park on Sunday.
The Stallions not only galloped away from their opponents to win the Football NSW grand final — they also achieved the difficult feat of winning the "double" in one season: the premiership and grand final.
Football NSW media manager Mark Stavroulakis said it was a tremendous effort by the Stallions to win both major trophies.
Matildas player Heather Garriock was in top form, inspiring the Stallions with her skill and talent, and she also scored a goal, capping a commanding performance.
The Stallions led 2-1 at halftime and three second-half goals secured a grand final victory.
