FAIRFIELD Liverpool Cricket Club has a new wicketkeeper for the opening match of the season against North Sydney at Rosedale Oval on Saturday.
The Lions club coach Anthony Clark said recruit Guy Seymour will don the gloves for the season opener at the Warwick Farm ground. Seymour joins the Lions from Western Suburbs, the same club as Australian Test captain Michael Clarke.
"Our regular keeper Jake Doran is in India playing for the Australian under-19s team and he won't be available," Clark said.
"Jake will also be away for a while in the second half of the season playing for the Australian under-19s team in the World Cup. Guy is also an opening batsman." Clark said there is the possibility when Doran and Seymour are both available they could play in the same team together.
Seymour, a left-handed batsman averaged 25 in all grades with Wests and has taken 110 dismissals, comprising 76 catches and 24 stumpings.
Clark said the club's other main recruit is Central Coast fast bowler Kieran Elley.
Play starts this Saturday at 9.30am.
