Rail concept on show
SYDNEY Intermodal Terminal Alliance's (SIMTA) revised freight rail concept plan is now on public exhibition. The plan was released by the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure last week, and will be on public exhibition until October 21.
It involves development of former defence land at Moorebank.
The first stage is a rail link connecting the site to the southern Sydney freight line; and a freight terminal with a capacity to handle up to 1 million, 20-foot equivalent units a year.
About 300,000 square metres of warehouses and distribution facilities will also be built, and a freight "village" with about 8000 square metres of support services. SIMTA has reopened its information centre on Secant Street in Liverpool so the community to make direct inquiries.
Details: 7 Secant Street, Liverpool. Opening hours: Wednesday, September 11 and 18, 2pm-4pm. Saturday, September 14 and 21, 10am-noon. Meetings with members of the project team are available outside these times by appointment.
