LEADING Australian Ice Hockey League team Sydney Ice Dogs head to Melbourne this weekend in a bid to win this year's title.
They face Melbourne Ice at the Ice House in Melbourne on Saturday. The other semi-final, between Newcastle North Stars and Perth in the AIHL, is also being played at the same venue.
The winners of the two semi-finals will play in Sunday's grand final at the Ice House.
The Ice Dogs represent the city and suburbs of Liverpool in the national competition.
Their home games are played at Liverpool Catholic Club sports complex.
The Ice Dogs finished the regular season with a 8-2 thrashing of the Canberra Knights in Canberra on Saturday night. The team is coached by Canadian Ron Kuprowsky.
Sydney Ice Dogs' spokeswoman Julia Caruana said the team did well to finish at the top of the table: "We won all our matches against Melbourne Ice."
